Singla (Psychiatrist &amp; Psychotherapist)<\/h5>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][\/vc_section][vc_section css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1648738339757{padding-top: 30px !important;}&#8221;][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Social anxiety Disorder is the third largest mental health care problem in the world<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>Perceived scrutiny and negative evaluation by others are key features of<strong> SAD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Physical symptoms often include excessive <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Blushing\">blushing<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Hyperhidrosis\">excess sweating<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Tremor\">trembling<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Palpitations\">palpitations,<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nausea\">nausea<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Stutter\">Stammering<\/a> may be present, along with rapid speech.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][\/vc_section][vc_section][vc_row][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_column_text]Social anxiety disorder is a persistent fear of one or more situations in which others expose the person to possible scrutiny and fears that he or she may do something or act in a way that will be humiliating or embarrassing. It exceeds normal \u201cshyness\u201d as it leads to excessive social avoidance and substantial social or occupational impairment.<\/p>\n<p>Feared activities may include almost any type of social interaction, especially small groups, dating, parties, talking to strangers, restaurants, interviews, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Those who suffer from social anxiety disorder fear being judged by others in society. In particular, individuals with social anxiety are nervous in the presence of people with authority and feel uncomfortable during physical examinations. People who suffer from this disorder may behave a certain way or say something and then feel embarrassed or humiliated after.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243;][vc_single_image image=&#8221;3033&#8243; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221;][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1648738510141{padding-top: 30px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column][vc_column_text]<strong>As a result,<\/strong> they often choose to isolate themselves from society to avoid such situations. They may also feel uncomfortable meeting people they do not know, and act distant when they are with large groups of people. In some cases, they may show evidence of this disorder by avoiding eye contact, or blushing when someone is talking to them[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][\/vc_section][vc_row css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1648743796546{padding-top: 50px !important;}&#8221;][vc_column][vc_cta h2=&#8221;&#8221; add_icon=&#8221;top&#8221; i_icon_fontawesome=&#8221;icon-quote&#8221; i_color=&#8221;orange&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SAD is<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Unconditional\u2019 negative beliefs (e.g. \u201cI am inept\u201d) and \u2018conditional\u2019 beliefs nearer to the surface (e.g. \u201cIf I show myself, I will be rejected\u201d)<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_cta][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_section][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Let us look out what\u2019s wrong in the brain SAD<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Sociability is closely tied, to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Neurotransmitter\">dopamineneurotransmission.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Direct relation of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Social_status\">social status<\/a> and binding affinity of dopamine D2\/3 receptors in the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Striatum\">striatum<\/a> was found.<\/li>\n<li>Studies have shown high prevalence of social anxiety in Parkinson\u2019s disease and schizophrenia. In a recent study, social phobia was diagnosed in 50% of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Parkinson%27s_disease\">Parkinson\u2019s disease<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Some evidence points to the possibility that social anxiety disorder involves reduced <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Serotonin\">serotonin<\/a> receptor binding.<\/li>\n<li>The amygdala is part of the<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Limbic_system\"> limbic system<\/a> which is related to fear cognition and emotional learning.
